It's not like Darth Bane have a large number of impressive kills under his belt.

Darth Bane's most impressive combat-related victory is over Lord Kas'im, and this is a circumstantial victory for him given the fact that this battle took place on Lehon (a world incredibly strong in the DARK SIDE) and its energies enabled Darth Bane to collapse a Temple over Lord Kas'im after reaching the higher ground. At the end of duel, Lord Kas'im was still in good shape and spirits, and also TANKED a powerful telekinetic wave of energy unleashed by Darth Bane, but tons of rock falling over him proved to be too much for him to handle. The Temple might be the same which was bombarded by Revan during the course of events in Shadow of Revan, and therefore its structural integrity would have been compromised.

Darth Bane's next impressive combat-related victory is over Raskta Lsu, and this is a circumstantial victory for him as well. Although Raskta benefited from the Battle Meditation of one of her companions, Darth Bane was covered in orbalisks which accorded him significant protection from lightsaber blows and therefore Raskta was unable to cut him down. Darth Bane wasn't fighting alone either; his apprentice Darth Zannah was fighting beside him. The Jedi weren't powerhouses of any kind. Raskta was a formidable threat due to her speed and dueling skills. When the Battle Meditation was disrupted, the Jedi lost their cohesion and effectiveness, and were easily dispatched, although Darth Bane almost lost his life in the end.

Darth Bane's next major opponent was his own apprentice Darth Zannah, and the latter prevailed.

Not shortselling Darth Bane here, but his credentials can also be questioned and/or scrutinized.

Teachings of Darth Revan's Sith holocron enabled him to endure numerous situations and trials over time.

Darth Baras does not have shortage of HYPE either. For example:

Methodical and calculating, Baras is a true master of the dark arts, and some say the future of the Empire.

Taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic: Codex Entry: Darth Baras (Warrior)

Darth Baras was becoming more powerful with passing years, and by the time of Sacking of Coruscant, he was capable of handling both Satele Shan and Darth Angral in single combat [1 on 1] which is very impressive given the fact that Satele had prodigious command of the Force (and speed), and Darth Angral was the LEADER of the TASK FORCE assembled to raid the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and oversee Sacking of Coruscant itself (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived). Darth Angral commanded respect from even the likes of Darth Malgus which is a testament to his raw power in person (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived). Darth Angral crossed paths with and fought Jedi Master Orgus Din on Coruscant and prevailed in this duel, forcing Master Din to retreat.

Master Din was a member of the Jedi High Council and one of the most accomplished members of the Order in the Great Galactic War which is testament to his combative abilities given the fact that he was action-oriented guy (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia). In a demonstration of raw power, he [easily] collapsed a gigantic cave with a hand gesture in front of the (soon-to-be) Hero of Tython to seal a route adopted by the Flesh Raiders to infiltrate spaces of the Jedi Order. How the Dark Jedi Bengel Morr got the better of him is unclear but he never had shortage of Flesh Raiders at this disposal for any eventuality (Bengel was also among the few who made it out alive from the Sacking of Coruscant development; not FODDER by any measure). Nevertheless, WE can forgive Master Din for this one moment of failure in view of the fact that Darth Maul have more embarrassing moments under his belt.

Coming back to Darth Baras; he was able to exploit The Entity to his advantage and benefit - a testament to his affinity with Sith Sorcery - and gave the impression to many that he was one of the Voices of the Emperor. Although, the Emperor's Wrath II was able to break the hold of Darth Baras's over The Entity with aid of Darth Vowrawn and the Hand, but the matter is to be settled in the Citadel for good.

While cut-off from The Entity, Darth Baras was still a force-to-be-reckoned-with:

The Emperor's Wrath ultimately marches into the Dark Council chambers to expose Darth Baras as a fraud and traitor who lies about speaking the Emperor's will. But to prove such a bold claim to the Dark Council, the Wrath battles Darth Baras in a fierce duel. The Wrath emerges triumphant, striking down the ruined and seething Darth Baras. With vengeance delivered and the Emperor's will satisfied, the Dark Council bows to the unquestionable might of the Emperor's Wrath.

Taken from Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia

It took that kind of MUSCLE to bring Darth Baras down, in his prime days.

Darth Baras was not lacking in strength, he co-existed with so many capable Sith however, and it was exceedingly difficult to climb at the TOP in the Empire. Sooner or later, his luck ran out.

I love that Meatpants seized the title Champion of Darkness from that Krayt fan whose name I don't remember
